Ingredient Notes:

Pastry Sheets: You’ll usually find these in the freezer section with pie shells and other pastries in your grocery store. Just make sure to defrost them before using them.

Chocolate: Use regular, milk chocolate or a piece of your favorite chocolate bar if you want to get real creative.

How to make cruffins:

  1. Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to package directions.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400F. Spray a muffin tin with non stick cooking spray and set aside.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets to about 8×10 inch rectangles.
  4. Brush each sheet of puff pastry with melted butter.
  5. With a knife or pizza cutter, cut each puff pastry sheet into 4 strips (cut from the long end so the strips will be about 2.5 inch wide and 8 inches long). Place a piece of chocolate at the short end of a strip of pastry and roll the chocolate into each strip.
  6. Set each puff pastry roll into a muffin tin and brush with an egg wash (1 egg whisked with 1 tbsp water).
  7. Bake in the oven on the centre rack for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Once cooled, dust with icing sugar and enjoy!

What is a cruffin? A cross between a muffin and a croissant in one. It’s seriously the best combination.

What can I fill a cruffin with? If you’re not into chocolate (but who isn’t?) then you could try filling with your favorite fruit jam instead.
