How to make Tuna Lettuce Wraps

These lettuce wraps are incredibly easy to whip together, but here’s a little step-by-step to get you on the right foot to a delicious meal.

Make the sauce

This sauce is simple! Simply add the delicious ingredients into a medium-sized jar and blend using a hand blender. Don’t have a hand blender? You can use a whisk if you pre-grate your ginger and garlic instead. For this Asian-inspired sauce, you’ll combine:

  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Soy or coconut aminos
  • Sesame oil and seeds
  • Lime
  • Vegetable oil
  • Honey or maple syrup
  • Rice wine vinegar

Marinade the tuna

Next, you’ll want to work on the delicious marinade that truly brings the tuna to the next level of goodness. To do this, throw everything into a large bowl and let everyone get to know each other. Leave your tuna marinading for as long as you like, obviously, the longer you leave it the more flavourful it’ll be, but if you’re in a rush, don’t worry, you’ll still get tuna loaded with flavour if you let it marinate for a few minutes too!

Chop the vegetables

Be sure to chop, chop, chop! You want your wraps bursting with flavour in every bite, so take all your veggies you want to add in and chop away! However, if you hate chopping vegetables, let your food processor do the work.

Build your wraps

There’s no wrong (or right) way to do this, just start with the lettuce, and end with the sauce. You can figure out, and personally tailor the middle step to your liking. Get the family involved so everyone can make their own the way they like it. One thing I will tell you though is that you’ll want to ensure you remove any excess liquid from the tuna marinade before adding it to the wraps so the lettuce of your wrap doesn’t go soggy!

What lettuce is best for lettuce wraps?

The most important thing is picking lettuce with large leaves that are flexible and easy to wrap up your ingredients into. Some of my favs are:

  • Butterhead
  • Romaine
  • Greenhead

Just cut the bottom of the head of lettuce and peal each leaf one-by-one for your beautiful wraps!

What’s the catch with Good Catch Foods tuna?

… there is none! Good Catch Foods is my favourite for a vegan alternative to tuna and their products so well when incorporating them into any recipe like these Tuna Lettuce Wraps where I used their Oils & Herbs Tuna . This tuna can be eaten straight out of the package, added to a salad, pasta, or any recipe. It is loaded with protein and has the great taste of tuna, but without actually harming any fish in the making of it. They make their vegan-friendly products with a plant protein blend that includes:

  • Chickpeas
  • Soy
  • Peas
  • Lentils
  • Fava beans
  • Navy beans

I’ve used their tuna in several of my recipes and it seriously doesn’t fall short. You can trick even the seafood-loving people in your family!

These Tuna Lettuce Wraps are affordable, light, and easy to put together. They also are low in carbs and take less than 15 minutes to put together. Really it’s a win no matter what!
