Halloween is just around the corner and one of my favorite Halloween treats is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. The mixture of chocolate and peanut butter is seriously the best, and I think that’s why Reese’s have always captured so many people’s hearts. This recipe is to make your own homemade Reese’s eggs.

Ingredient Notes:

Almond Flour: I love to use Bob’s Red Mill almond flour here. It’s made from the finest California-grown almonds and is a healthier and gluten-free alternative to flour.

Peanut Butter: See my note in the recipe on if you use natural peanut butter vs. the regular stuff. Either or, these will be delicious. You’ll just want to adjust the measurements accurately. Peanut butter adds a great dose of protein to this recipe. If you are allergic to peanuts you can use almond butter instead!

Dark Chocolate: Dark chocolate has such an intense, delicious flavor. Plus, it’s healthier for you. Dark chocolate actually contains fiber and is loaded with minerals. It can also be a source of antioxidants.

How do you make homemade Reese’s eggs?

  1. In a small mixing bowl, mix/combine the peanut butter, almond flour, and maple syrup. Set aside

  1. Using your hands, form the mixture into egg shapes and place them on a parchment-lined pan into the freezer till firm. Around 30 minutes.

  1. Place the chocolate and coconut oil into a large bowl and microwave for 1-2 minutes until melted. Remove from microwave frequently to stir and check on how melted the chocolate has become. After a while, you should just be able to use a spoon to completely stir it into a silky chocolate sauce.

  1. Remove the eggs from the freezer and dunk them into the chocolate. Use two forks to navigate the process and place them onto a parchment-lined pan. You can drizzle them with more chocolate if desired.

  1. Place them into the freezer for at least 30 minutes. Enjoy!

How do I make this recipe vegan? Swap out the honey as the sweetener to maple syrup or agave.

Can I make these in different shapes? Definitely! Just try not to get too wild or it’ll make it hard to coat them in chocolate!

Storage: Once coated with chocolate, add the eggs to an airtight container and these will last in the freezer for up to one month.

Do I have to use dark chocolate? Personally, I just love dark chocolate but you can definitely make these with milk chocolate as well. If you want to get really crazy you can also try white chocolate.
