I love making sweet and savory dishes with mango. Mango has to just be one of the top fruits. It has so much flavor, and it pairs so well with so many dishes, both sweet and savory. This mango salad recipe is quick and easy, and you’re going to love the flavor combinations.

Ingredient Notes:

Mango: Mango is a great source of vitamin C, vitamin A, and folate, and it’s high in fiber too!

Peanuts: If peanuts aren’t your favorite, you can substitute with chopped cashews or remove the nuts completely if there is a nut allergy

Protein: Add your fav plant-based or meat protein into this mango salad recipe to make it a complete meal.

How to make mango salad recipe:

  1. Make the dressing by whisking together all of the dressing ingredients and setting aside.
  2. Add all of the salad ingredients to a bowl, drizzle with the dressing, toss, and serve.

What goes well with mango? If you are making a sweet dish, cream, vanilla, coconut, peaches, and pineapple pair nicely. If you are making a savory dish, cucumbers, red onion, and fresh herbs like cilantro, all pair nicely.

What goes with mango fruit salad? Coconut, peaches, pineapple, and bananas go exceptionally well with mango fruit salad, but you’re not limited to those. You can toss any fruit in with mango!

Is mango a laxative? Mango does contain sorbitol which is a laxative sugar alcohol that is found in laxatives BUT you do need to consume lots of mango for this to really affect you. If you have issues with things like IBS, it may affect you more.

Are you supposed to eat the skin of the mango? Mango skin is edible and packed with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. However, it can have an unpleasant taste so most people choose to peel their mangos.

  • 2 ripe mangos, diced into cubes
  • 1 cucumber, seeds removed, sliced into matchsticks
  • ¼ red onion, diced small
  • 1 papaya, diced into cubes
  • ½ cup chopped cilantro
  • ½ cup chopped peanuts

For the dressing

  • 2 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 4 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp chili flakes
  • 2 tbsp lime juice

Instructions

  • Make the dressing by whisking together all of the dressing ingredients and setting aside.
  • Add all of the salad ingredients to a bowl, drizzle with the dressing, toss and serve.

Notes

  • If you like more spice, try using a finely minced red thai chili pepper instead of chili flakes in the dressing.
  • If peanuts aren’t your favourite, you can substitute with chopped cashews.
  • This salad would be delicious served as a side to your favourite protein.
